General Description / Objective
The Cattle Clerk supports daily feedyard operations through accurate recordkeeping, shipment coordination, and administrative support. Responsibilities include maintaining cattle records, scheduling shipments, ensuring withdrawal compliance, preparing operational spreadsheets and reports, and assisting with daily office tasks.

This role works closely with multiple departments and locations in a fast-paced environment and may assist in other clerical roles as needed.
Roles and Tasks
  • Maintain accurate cattle records including housing, weights, health status, and movements
  • Draft, coordinate, and maintain daily cattle shipment schedules
  • Ensure all cattle meet applicable withdrawal requirements before shipment
  • Transfer and organize operational data into spreadsheets, ledgers, and recordkeeping systems
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and daily operational reports
  • Track feedyard performance statistics and support inventory reporting
  • Assist with weighing, counting, and processing incoming and outgoing cattle
  • Support cattle shipment operations and assist with sorting cattle when needed
  • Communicate and collaborate with multiple departments, coworkers, and management teams
  • Assist with answering phones, directing calls, and supporting general office operations
  • Maintain organized files and filing systems in accordance with company procedures
  • Provide clerical and administrative support across departments as needed
  • Fill in for other clerical roles and assist with additional duties assigned by management
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.

Profile / Professional Competencies
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED preferred
Commodities and agricultural experience preferred
Specific Knowledge / Experience:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to multitask and maintain accurate records
  • Basic math and data entry skills
  • Knowledge of cattle operations or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and locations
